My name is Rhonda Michaels and I am proud to be a tutor at Traverse Dyslexia. I come to this position with 12 years classroom experience. I taught kindergarten and first grade in the San Marcos Unified School District near San Diego, California. My passion has always been to work with struggling readers; the opportunity provided by Traverse Dyslexia to do so with students one at a time at each student's pace is a dream come true for me. I love being able to provide students with tools and strategies to help them read and write and to watch them as they apply those tools to help them reach their fullest potential as readers. Outside of work, I love spending time with my family, being active outdoors and gardening. I have two amazing daughters, Nicole and Olivia. We love adventuring together - hiking, cooking, playing games and laughing. Spending time outside in nature is important to me as well. Whether it is hiking in the mountains or on the coast or gardening in my community greenhouse and orchard, I am happiest when I am outside.
